For the feet

I’m really working on reducing my sock yarn stash! This time in the form of a pair of socks for a friend. I bought both the pattern and the yarn years ago and just did not start the project. I’m not entirely happy with the result as the spiraling eats up the pattern quite a lot. But nonetheless, the recipient loves them.

I have knit a short row heel and extended the seed stitch pattern over its first half. The yarn is okay, but will not become a favourite. Although I followed the english version of the sock pattern, I found it confusing in its detailedness. However, this was not my first pair of socks, so I regarded the pattern more or less as a recipe, which worked well for me.

Apart from the socks, I have knit myself a pair of slippers. The pattern is easy to follow, although my hands hurt a lot due to knitting at such a tight gauge. It could have been even worse if I had not knitted them on 3.5mm needles. I used the wonderful Schoppel Albmerino, a lightly felted merino yarn. This really might become a favourite as it knits up easily and the result just looks gorgeuous!

Sadly, the slippers came out really flat at the sides. Nonetheless, I love them and wear them often.
